Moving on

Greetings family and friends!

We are letting you know that we are moving back to Coaldale. Our flight leaves on December 12th. This is not a sad thing; all things considered. We have peace that this is the right thing for us to do as a family now.

We have been deep in prayer about this and we feel we have God's blessing in our decision. Thank you to all for your prayers and financial support in this huge step of faith we took for the kingdom of God. We have all learned and grown so much!

Bless you all as you walk in faith, and be encouraged to step out and live your calling that God is placing in your hearts. We have not failed, but we have been an example of God sustaining us through this part of our lives, and onto the next bigger and better thing that He has for our family.

In God's Love, and Merry Christmas!

October 31, 2007

Hi Everyone! Just a short update to let you all know that we are well. I (Nancy) am definitely going through the "transition blues" and so are the girls. We need your encouragement to make it through this spiritual season and through staying here for a year.

We are going to be able to buy a car this week as we received a refund check from School of Hope for purchasing a laptop earlier this year for home schooling purposes. This gives me great joy and will make daily life much easier. We have a heart to go and shine God's light in the dark "walking street" of Pattaya. We want to minister to the young prostitutes and now with a car we will be able to do this.

We plan on coming home sometime after the baby is born, which could be about April-ish, depending on when the baby's passport arrives. Whether or not we stay in Canada for good after that is still in prayer. We have definitely learned that our plans are not always exactly what God has planned, but we are very blessed to be here as missionaries. Please keep us in prayer and pray that we would be guided by God as to our next steps. I know we will be missionaries whether it be in Canada or Thailand. There is much need in our own towns and cities as well, and we know that God will bless us as long as we keep our eyes on Him and do His will with all of the passion in our souls.

We love you and miss you all dearly.
In God's Love,
Scott & Nancy & family

October 11, 2007

Dear friends & family,

We pray that this update finds you all well and on fire for God! As we were praying for all of our financial sponsors and for the people who pray for us, God gave me this scripture. Please read Philippians 4:10-20. We hope you find it as encouraging and uplifting as we do. We love you all very much and you are a great part in not only what God is doing in our lives, but what He is doing in Thailand and in every part of the world.

On September 27th, Nancy and Jessalin were driving the motorbike to the Victory tower when a car cut in front of them, causing Nancy and Jess to drive into the side of the car. They were wisely wearing helmets (as we all do, even Caleb). Jessalin only got a small bruise on her thigh, but Nancy was hurt more seriously. She received a broken nose (she went head first into the car), 5 stitches in her right knee, and other cuts and bruises. In the emergency department at the hospital, the doctor did an ultrasound and found that the baby is just fine. Praise God! The young woman driving the car paid for all medical expenses, repair of the motorbike, and repair of the Mac laptop that was in the backpack that Jessalin was wearing in the crash. The woman stayed with us at the hospital the whole time - about a half a day - and was very remorseful. Through an interpreter, Nancy was able to speak with this woman and forgive her. A Thai friend of ours was able to testify to this young woman about God's love and His protection. It was good! Nancy is healing very well.
We are more motivated now than ever to own a car big enough for seatbelts for all of us. Please continue to pray and believe with us that God will provide the finances needed to buy a decent vehicle.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with about 20 guests at our home. It was such a blessing to spend time with our fellow missionaries, Pastor Terry Purvis, and friends. We didn't find a turkey (until the day after the said event), but we enjoyed baked chicken, smoked ham, mashed potatoes, vegetable dishes, and of course pumpkin pie.

Love and God's abundant blessings to you all!

September 22/07

Hello Canada!
Well, life is good and God is great! A couple of weeks ago we bought a second motorbike from a fellow missionary from Lethbridge. We got a great deal at 7000baht ($230). The bike even has a baby seat for Caleb. With our new found freedom, we celebrated Jessalin's 13th birthday -- 17th of September-- with a family outing to the Sriracha Tiger Zoo. It was fabulous to get out as a family without having to rely on someone else to drive half of us. We went to the restaurant at the zoo and ate BBQ Crocodile. ("Tastes like chicken") (See pic) The Tiger Zoo was a blast!

Scott is well into his work at Continuum, and I'm working at Continuum as well. Scott is doing the TV part of it, and I am doing the magazine end of it. I am a writer and editor which is something I love, but also a huge stretch. Caleb is attending Piem Sook International Nursery from Tuesdays thru Fridays. This allows me to school the girls - which is coming along well after lots of frustration and patience. Caleb is really enjoying his 'school' and he is picking up Thai already after only being there for 2 weeks.

We would like to take this time to say 'thank-you' to all of our financial supporters, and to our prayer supporters as well. God has been very faithful in putting on peoples hearts to help us financially. It is so very much needed, no matter the amount, and we are very grateful.

We are still praying for a car. It is nice to have 2 motorbikes now, but in the rain it's not so much fun. Also, I find the bumpiness of the bike ride hard on my growing belly (20 weeks prego now). So please stand in agreement with us for the finances to come in for a car (we need about $2000.00 to get anything decent and reliable).

We love you and appreciate you! Please enjoy the pics!

In God's love,
The Groves family

Hello from thailand

Hello everyone. Sorry it took so long to update our blog, but internet is hard to get. Both phone companies say (in rough accent) "horry, hno hintrnet in you moo bahn" translated to mean "no internet available in your housing complex".
I'm not sure what the problem is, cause I'm on the internet now, accessing the wireless network from the pool across the street. I'll talk (or try to talk) to the training center tomorrow and find out who supplies their internet. We are on day #6 now trying to get internet.
Otherwise the experience has been awesome. It's about 38-40 degrees daily with 100% humidity. We got a moped for about $850 and have put many miles on it as it is our only transportation for now.
The kids have been busy teaching english to the children on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and love it. The girls also go to youth on Friday evenings -- its all in Thai, but they love it.
Caleb is loving all the attention he gets wherever we go. It's crazy to see all these Thai women coming and touching Caleb. (It's like they have never seen a white kid before)...actually they probably haven't.
This is our house, which we pay $500 a month for, and it suits us perfectly. It has a nice front yard (as pictured) and it is 400 feet from the pool.
We are in dire need of a car. As it is we fit Scott and one girl on the bike, and sometimes Caleb too, and the rest of us take a tuk tuk (taxi as pictured). So you can imagine the safety issues as well as the difficulty taking our groceries home.
We are surviving well and we know that God has big plans for us here.

We miss you all! Love, the Groves

June 2007

Well, God blessed us with wonderful tenants for our home and they moved in on June 15th. We are staying with some friends now until we leave in August, Stan & Angela, and it has been a great transition for us all.

Our quit smoking is not going so well. We quit for 2+ months but are smoking again. Please lift us up in prayer as we set a new quit date for July 8th. We cannot go to Thailand unless we are non-smokers, so this is quite important to us. We want to be set free of this addiction so the enemy does not have that foothold on us.

Also, we are expecting a baby in February 2008! This is awesome as we had been trying to conceive since Caleb was a few months old. We are completely at peace with giving birth in Sriracha. God is faithful and oh so good!!

Check back next month for further updates and some new photos.
God bless you all!

May 2 update

Well, time sure has passed fast since the last update. We are actively looking for people to sponsor us for our work.
As of today we have raised about 60% of what we need for monthly support.
We still need to raise about $600/month in monthly partners. I'm believing GOD for 24 people to be called to donate
$25/month. (Is God speaking to you?)

Otherwise all is going well. Nancy and I quit smoking almost 3 months ago. Besides gaining 15 pounds already, it has been great.

Current Needs: 1. Prayer
2. Renters for our house
3. Partners
I ask you to please pray for these to come forth and to be revealed to us.

Blessings....
Groves Family

Forgive me. This is my first blog attempt. :)
